Conservatory trained, Doreen played roles on hit TV shows, such as, Big Bang Theory, Scandal, All American, Frasier, Jane the Virgin. In addition, she’s appeared in many national commercials and independent film productions.
Originally from Chicago, she attended the Goodman School of Drama. Soon after, she had the privilege of performing during the “Golden Era of Improv,” and studying under John Favreau, Charna Halpern and yes, Del Close. She worked with The Second City Touring Company, iO Chicago, UCB (before it was UCB), and Boom Chicago in Amsterdam.
Being the only women in the drama, I, at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theater, Doreen was terrified and thrilled to play opposite Ted Levine (Buffalo Bill, Silence of the Lambs). Her character, a teenage prostitute, exemplified the painful reality that still exists in that country. Doreen is not limited to portraying harsh realities, but she easily transitions into comedy due to her years of improv experience. One of her favorite characters is the mysterious old maid in the gay telenovela parody, Stallions de Amor, opposite Drew Droege (Heathers) and Joy Nash (Dietland).
While not on stage or in front of the camera, Doreen mentors other actors and builds their acting career by focusing on representation, marketing, and mindset. Her company, The Recognized Actor, lives the motto: It’s Not Who You Know. It’s Who Knows You. www.TheRecognizedActor.com .
Doreen’s dream is to star in a feature film, alongside brilliant artists and crew, improvising her way to an award-winning masterpiece.
